Alief Community Association, Inc. will hold the (8th) annual “Alief International Parade” event put on by the Alief Community Association, Inc. on September 19, 2015. Each year we reach out to hundreds of Students and Businesses and community offering great opportunity to showcase their business. Our Mission is “ to promote their services in Southwest Houston (Alief) community. This allows the area residents to come in contact with our future generations, business and community! As with all events, there is a cost incurred to bring the Alief International Parade to Alief. Each year we look for like-minded community businesses and residence to support this event. The History of Alief, Texas Houston,Texas’ International Community

Early settlement (1861–1917)

In 1861, Reynolds Reynolds claimed 1,250 acres (5.1 km2) of land near Brays Bayou. The land was sold to Jacamiah Seaman Daugherty in 1888 and in the following year, he allowed the San Antonio & Arkansas Pass Railway to build on his land. Daugherty sold his land in 1893 to Francis Meston who planned to engineer a community.Daugherty stayed to oversee land sales in Meston’s Houston office.
In 1894, the community was surveyed and recognized by Harris County. Surveyors named the town Dairy, Texas. The first two town settlers, Dr. John S. Magee and his wife, Alief Ozelda Magee, moved from Ellis County to Dairy the same year.

Who Now Lives In Alief

The population was 11.1% white(non-Hispanic) 27.4% black(non-Hispanic), 21.2% Asian, and 37.9% Hispanic in the annexed portion of Alief in 2009. The number of Asians and Hispanics in the annexed portion of Alief increased between the years 2000 and 2009 while the number of people from all other ethnic groups listed by the City of Houston Planning Department either declined or showed no change.

The number of households in the annexed portion of Alief increased from 31,033 in 2000 to 33,654 in 2009. The average size of households in the area increased as well, from 3.15 to 3.22.The median age of residents in the annexed portion of Alief was 29.6 in 2009.

Alief Community Association, Inc., a community tax-exempt non-profit organization since 1993, seeks your help in raising much needed funding for all their programs for 2016.

ACA serves a community where 80% of the population has been identified as economically challenged, with restricted incomes, and modest means and little or no health care. 82 foreign dialects are spoken in our schools and community, which makes for additional challenges.

Alief Community Association, Inc. is one of the most committed and relied-upon organizations in the community. We have been working towards a healthier community and to improve the quality of life  for over 23 years.  Among its programs and services, Alief Community Association, Inc. collects food, toys, clothes, books and assists in finding living quarters for both homeless families and children. The number homeless children in the community has been shown to be 1500  and increasing. ACA also helps the Veterans and residents in the community all year round.

Each year we produce the annual “Alief International Parade” event that enjoys the participation of over _80 schools, businesses, police departments and community groups from the community. Likewise, we annually we reach out to hundreds of students and businesses in the community offering a great opportunity to showcase their businesses. Our Mission is “ to promote their services in Southwest Houston (Alief) community.” This allows the area residents to come in contact with our future generations, business and community!
